Convicted in Leitrim Courts on 6th March 1846 and transported to Tasmania, Australia aboard the Lord Auckland arriving on the 25th August 1846, Michael was given a ticket of leave on 1st July 1853 he married an Irish girl also from Leitrim, Ann Mallin on 9th November 1854 in Hobart, Tasmania, Ann arrived on the Eucalyptus on the 20th September 1854. They moved to the Huon Valley where they had a farm, they had 11 children who reached adulthood and one stillborn. Michael died from asthma on 30th December 1883 at Mountain River, Huon Valley and buried at Franklin, Huon Valley. Ann died 5th of May 1877 of peritonitis at the age of 37, which means she was just 14\15 when she was married. Ann was also buried at Franklin.
