Place of migration
Migrated to /Born in Canada
Michael O'Riordan/Riordan was born in Clashmore, Ireland in about 1775. He immigrated to Newfoundland, now part of Canada, in about 1800 and married Grace Saunders from Greenspond, Newfoundland. Michael and Grace went on to have 12 children -- eight boys and four girls -- in Tilting Harbour on Fogo Island, Newfoundland. Their eldest son, Patrick, born in about 1800, was my third great-grandfather. The name eventually morphed into Reardon. Patrick and his brothers, who were referred to as "the Clashmore boys" in local historical research, worked in the fishing industry.
