Stayed in Ireland

Hanora or Hanoria Lane, née Lane, is my paternal great-grandmother. She married Denis Lane, Blacksmith and they had nine children. I only know seven names- Daniel, Patrick, Mary, Ellen, Timothy, Denis, Hanora. Her obituary in the Kerry Reporter (Nov 15, 1924 ) described her as “a famous Shanchee” who had been politically active. I hope to visit Brosna in the next couple of months and would be very grateful for any information at all. Her daughter Ellen (my grandmother) married a Cork city man and probably would have seldom revisited her Brosna home.

  • I am wondering if she may be my Great Grandmothers sister or other relative.  Her name was Margaret Leane or Lane (married to Michael Sugrue) and she called one of their girls Honoria.  Margaret's parents were John Leane and Ellen (nee Brosnan).  The records I have are that they were born and died in Castleisland.  All excep Michael Sugrue who went to the US and died there.
