Owen's birth certificate states that his father's name was Peter but that is probably a mistake. Peter was not a popular name in that area at that time and there is no one in the family with the name Peter even as a second name.

He settled in Chicago,Illinois. He married Isabella McFadden June 1889 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chicago.
