Patrick Bourke was born in Kilrush, Kildare in 1833.

He married Anne O'Dwyer at St Senan's, Kilrush, Kildare, Ireland in 1858.

Their daughter, Frances Bourke, was born in Kilrush in 1859.

They emigrated to Australia, on the 'Young America' in 1860 and their son, John Bourke, was born in Ballarat, Victoria in the same year.

Sometime after that they moved to Dunedin, New Zealand, where Anne Bourke died in 1863, aged 29.

Patrick remarried on 24/6/1869 at the Dunedin Cathedral (now St Joseph's) to Anastasia Ducey, and had 7 more children.

One of them, Charles Michael Bourke (1878-1914), was my great-grandfather.

Patrick died on Dec 2 1991, aged 78.

He, Anastasia (1845-1916) and Charles are buried together at Dunedin's Southern Cemetery. (see attached photo)
