Patrick appears on the 1871 English Census in Runcorn, Cheshire. He is 22 on the record which would put his year of birth at 1849, although he states his age as 19 on his marriage certificate which could make it 1848. He is there with his brother, Martin. Martin states his place of origin as Ballinasloe, Patrick's is stated as Gallway, Ireland.

Patrick is married to Annie Maria Glennon (married in Runcorn in 1867) and they have a 2 year old son, John Joseph.

Both Patrick and his brother Martin are housepainters, and via the East Galway Genealogy FB page, I believe he may be the son of John Doran, Dunlo Hill, Ballinasloe. (1815-1903). I have a letter from Patrick's son (also called Martin) written to my grandmother, from the house in Dunlo HIll in 1943, so strong circumstantial evidence for the link, but I cannot find a birth record, nor a death record.

Patrick was accused, but aquitted of a sexual assault against a minor in 1873. On the 1881 census, his wife is listed as a widow, but I wonder if Patrick left due to his chequered past. I can find no record of his death in the (very good) records in Runcorn, nor a grave for him there, so I don't believe that if he died, he died in Runcorn. I can narrow down his disappearance/death to between (roughly) June 1876, when his last child would have been conceived to March 1881, the earlyApril census then listing his wife as a widow.
