Patrick McCarty was born in Ireland in 1827. Parish unknown but my grandfather thought he was from County Cork. He emigrated to the Boston, Massachusetts area before 1856. He married Ann Wickham (b. 1828 in Ireland to Christopher Wickham and Bridget Barry) in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1856. They settled in North Attleboro. Patrick and Ann had five children: Charles, John Francis, Eliza, Arthur and Anne Frances. Chares and John Francis died in childhood. .Lizzie did not marry. Arthur married Anna Plath (daughter of Nels Nelson Plath and Ellen Louise O'Leary b. 1845 Ireland) and had two children: Arthur Jr. and Joseph Plath (being my grandfather). Annie married John Rister but had no children. Ann [Wickham] McCarty died 29 May 1878 in North Attleboro. Patrick McCarty was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1882, and died later than year.
