Patrick McOwen : Short Biography

The McOwen's of Clare were Masons. I have confirmed that Patrick was listed as the father of 4 McOwen siblings who emigrated to Lowell, MA during the famine years. The last McOwen record in Clare I was able to locate showed a William McOwen who died in Ennis workhouse in 1864. Patrick McOwen was listed as the father of Ellen McOwen (1830-1892) and Timothy McOwen (1820-1892) in various documents. Ellen and Timothy had a sister named Ann who lived from 1823-1895 (married in Ennis to Michael Coffey) and another sister Mary (1821-1892). All 4 of the McOwen siblings, Timothy, Mary, Ann and Ellen emigrated to Lowell, Massachusetts during the Famine years, between 1846-1848. It's likely there were additional McOwen siblings in Clare. Timothy became a successful building contractor and property owner in Lowell and is my 2X great GF. It's believed that Patrick's wife was named Mary, and perhaps maiden name was Gahan (although this surname hasn't been found in Clare). It's also possible that Patrick had a brother named William, as WIlliam was also listed as a mason in nearby Ballyallia, Templemaley in 1855 and later died in that Ennis workhouse in 1864. Patrick was Listed on County Clare Applotment Books on 20th October 1834. McOwen Pat Clouneen Inchicronan I believe this "Clouneen" location is currently in Crusheen. I welcome additional information on the McOwen's of Clouneen.
