Patrick Morrissey, was born on 27th Sept 1853 in Ballymakea, County Clare to parents Thomas & Catherine Morrissey.

Other known Morrissey ancestors are Thomas Morrissey’s parents, Timothy & Catherine Morrissey (Killeen) of Ballymakea.

Timothy’s Morrissey’s parents were Patrick (Snr) & Mary Morrissey (O’Gorman) of Cloonredden, Cooraclare, prior to the family moving to Ballymakea.  

Patrick (Jnr) had 12 siblings, seven were born in Ballymakea whose names are Timothy, James, Charles, Thomas, Mary, Catherine & Michael, siblings born in Grafton, NSW, Australia are Bridget, John, Ellen, David & Cornelius.

Thomas & Catherine emigrated to Australia with their children on the “Golden Dream”, docking in Brisbane, Qld on 28 May, 1863.  After some time living in Qld, Thomas & Catherine moved the family to NSW & purchased property on the Clarence River at Mylneford where they built a home & farmed the land. 

Patrick married Mary Comyns in Grafton, NSW, in 1879.  They had 5 children, Timothy, Margaret, Thomas, James & Maria.  Patrick passed away in 1925 after being thrown from his horse at Mylneford.  Mary passed away in 1924.  Records in Australia show Mary Comyns was also from County Clare in Ireland & that her parents names were Patrick & Margaret Comyns (Fitzgerald).  Mary's siblings were Michael, David & Delia/Bridget.  Brother Michael also came to live in Australia.
