Patrick and his brother, John C Powers and Michael Powers came to the US. Patrick and John settled in Oregon but it is unknown what became of Michael (though it is rumored he was a school teacher). In 1881 their father, James Power, wrote to the boys. The letter is from Stradbally, Co. Waterford. It is believed the Powers were from Co, Waterford. In the letter James also mentions a Mary, Thomas and William. It sounds like they were siblings and likely related to the Powers in some way. We have a photo of a Mary Powers from London, Ohio and she may be the Mary mentioned in the letter. The S was added to Power after the boys came to the US.

My grandfather Patrick Power was born in stradbally Co Waterford in 1845. He migrated to the New York area USA when he was about 23. Two of his sisters had preceded him and one married a Power or Powers something to do with the railways. After a few years there he migrated to Fiji then to Melbourne Australia. Probably not the same man as yours but maybe a cousin.
