Patrick Tansey was born c 1804 in County Roscommon, possibly Boyle. He migrated to Montreal, Canada about 1847 with his family. His wife was Honora Ann Connaughton born c1802 in County Roscommon.
They had at least seven children born in Roscommon: Mary (1832-1895) married Owen Drury (1832-1877); Dennis (1833-1908) married Catherine Mahon; Bernard (1835-19210)n married Sarah Holland; Annie Honora (1837-1908); Owen (1839-1920); Winnifred (1841-1853); Catherine (1842-1900) married James Foley. Several baptisms found in Killucan and Ballinameen.
Sources for Patrick's birth yearand place include his age given in Canada Census 1881; newspaper death notices in 1884 "native of County Roscommon in Ireland aged 80" and his tombstone in Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery, Montreal.
