Phelim McDonagh's sister. Ellen McDonagh of Clifden, Co. Galway, was my grandmother. Phelim served in the US Navy during WW1 and settled in Detroit after the War. He joined the Detroit Police Dept. and was killed in the 1920s in a shootout by 2 men robbing a drugstore. He managed to fatally wound one of his assailants.
