Robert Barry was born about 1813 and emigrated to New York in 1836 along with his 3-year old son, Robert, on board the ship Dalmarnock. The ship's voyage originated in Liverpool and landed in New York on 10 May 1836. Robert was married to Ellen and they appear in the 1855 New York census along with their children, Robert, Ellen, William, Denis and Hannah. Robert (Sr) was killed being thrown from a horsecart in July 1855 on 89th Street near 4th (now Park) Avenue. There is a baptism record from St. Mary's Church, Cork City which corresponds with an 1813 birth date but no other confirmation.
