Had 8 children, first 7 in Ireland (County Tyrone), last in US (William, Samuel, Betsey, James, Jane, Sarah, Alexander, Mary Ann). I don't know why FamilySearch shows children 3-6 all born 1800... multiple births?
Emigrated to Peterboro, Smithfield Township, Madison County, New York, USA in1806.
Died in Peterboro 17 September, 1827. Buried in Peterboro cemetery.
I, Douglas Leslie Johnston descended from Alexander. I grew up in Morrisville, New York, about 10 miles from Peterboro. I have visited Peterboro cemetery and have pictures of Samuel and Sarah gravestones, along with several generations down. Samuel is my 6th generation grandfather. The last couple generations are buried in Morrisville cemetery.
I have done Y-37, Y-111 and Big Y-700 tests with FamilyTreeDNA (Kit # 812345). First two tests show Haplogroup I-M223. Last shows I-Y8830. Both Haplogroups indicate Johnston of Annandale.
I would like to discover Samuel and Sarah parents, and eventually link them back to Scotland.
