Stephen Hammill was born in Shragh, County Clare Ireland. He migrated to Brisbane Australia about 1851. He married Mary Ryan in St Stevens Cathedral Brisbane on 31 December 1854. Mary migrated from Kilmoyler Co. Tipperary. There are many descendants living principally in Queensland.
