My grand dad was Private Thomas Connolly, United States Army 713174 Headquarter Company 305th Infantry WW1

Born 1891 in Willsbrook, Castlerea, Co Roscommon, Ireland

Immigrated in Nov 1911 to NYC with his older brother Patrick (1881) and joined a 3rd brother John (1885), Declaration for citizenship April1912, while living at 156 E 40th Street NY

Drafted in 1917 while living at 829 Third Avenue NYC, trained in Camp Upton from 19th September and mobilized with 77th Division (Liberty Division) in April1918 to France.

Engaged in Meuse-Argonne battle and was wounded on 8th November 1918, 3 days before the armistice was signed on 11th.

Discharge Jan 25th 1919 and the address before he returned to Roscommon was 16 22nd St, Elmhurst NY around 10th March 1919

He surviving WW1 and the Spanish flu pandemic but passed away very suddenly of appendicitis 2nd August 1937, aged 46 leaving a wife and 3 young children
