The son of John Curley and Bridget McCormick in the townland of Leaha (or Leahive), Thomas Curley was baptised on 18 Feb 1852. His baptismal sponsors were Dominick Costello and Anna Cunnicur. Curley emigrated to New York City ca 1870, becoming a saloonkeeper in Manhattan's West Village neighborhood. He married Bridget Kearney on 18 Sept 1880 at the Church of St Michael on 383 9th Ave.
