I am tracing my McDonnell/McDonald family who lived at Belvoir and in Broadford during the early 1800's. My great great grandfather's sister, Catherine McDonnell/McDonald married Michael Flanagan (born about the same time as your great grandfather, John Flanagan). They had two childen: Patrick (also called "Patsy") and Mary Ann. Michael died while still in Ireland. Catherine and her children subsequently moved to the United States, along with other members of her family. If Michael and Catherine followed Irish naming traditions in naming their first son Patrick after Michael's father, then it is possibly that we are connected to the same Patrick Flanagan (same name, same location, same time frame).

Hi,
I don't think or relations are linked.
My great great grandfather, Johanis (John) Flanagan, was born in 1800.
His wife was Mary Burke, who migrated to Queensland, Australia at an unknown date..
His son Michael was born in 1839 which in the records appears to be the year after Joannis died.
I can't find any record of Mary remarrying.
This Michael Flanagan migrated to New Zealand at an unknown date and married Mary Wilson in Christchurch in 1872.
I would be interested to hear any other information you may have on this situation.
Regards.
