FATHER Tim Gilrain (1798-1883) of House #5a Derngeer. In 1856, Timothy Gilrane's farmlands included # 4 and #5 at Derrenageer ( landlord: William Ormbsy Gore) and #63 at Greaghnafarna (landlord: Rev. William R. Slacke). This is surely the plot upon which Thomas & Alice build a home.

MULVEY OF TULLYNAPURTLIN
Alice Mulvey aka Gilraine (1842-1917) also came from a neighbouring townland: Tullynapurtlin (half of which was held by Mulveys).
FATHER Bernard aka Bryan Mulvey of house #9a Tullynapurtlin, farmer. In 1856, Bernard Mulvey's farmlands included #8, 9, 10 and part of #16. In 1834, he is very likely the man recorded as Bryan Mulvey (Bernard was a commonly used Anglicization of the Gaelic name Bryan/ Brian in those days). Also present were John, James and Anthony Mulvey.

Thomas & Anne Gilraine of Greaghnafarna
Thomas Gilraine / Gilrain and Alice Mulvey resided in the townland of Greaghnafarna near the village of Ballinagleragh (on the north-eastern shores of Lough Allen).
Civil Registrations (BMDs): Drumshanbo/ Carrick on Shannon.
They had 9 children, all baptised in the RC Parish of BALLINAGLERA:

This family are recorded as Gilrane in the 1901 Census. And as Gilraine in the 1911 Census. Stephen Gilrain b.1877 inherited the family farm and his sister Brigid lived with him.
Alice Mulvey-Gilraine died at home on 07-Sep-1917 and her husband Thomas two years later on 22-Feb-1919).
In 1922, Stephen Gilrane (1877-1949) married Anne Kelleher of Derrahouna and farmed at Greaghnafarna (where Stephen Gilraine died in 1949, age 70).
