Migrated to New York/Born in Ireland

Thomas H Conlon was born circa 1850 in  County Waterford, Ireland, to Helen Jarvis, age 25, and Thomas Conlon Sr., age 25. He emigrated to the United States in October of 1867 and married Bridget ( Delia ) Downing on December 7, 1871, at St. Stephen's Church in New York City. They had seven children during their marriage ( of whom only one lived) . Thomas held various jobs including Porter in a Store, Car Driver (horse-driven), Watchman and Clerk. He gained citizenship in 1899, shortly before his wife Bridget died in 1901. It is thought he had other Conlon relatives in NYC, including an older brother Michael (b. 1839). The spelling of his surname changed on documents from Conlan, Conlin, Connel and Conklin, but on official documents and for signatures he used the spelling CONLON.  He died of tuberculosis in 1908, age 58, and is buried at Cavalry Cemetery, Woodside, Queens NYC. He was the father of Mary Ellen Conlon, who later married Jerimiah Sullivan Jr., parents to Josephine, Dorothy and Grace Sullivan.
