Tom was the eldest boy of Pats Leary and Kate Riordan. When his father died in 1925 he took over the farm and looked after all his younger siblings. He managed the farm for 52 years. He married Johanna Casey in 1938 and they had 4 children. In his youth he was a member of the local branch of the I.R.A. from 1920 TO 1922.
As well as farming he was also a fisherman with his father and brothers. He was quite intelligent and spoke fluently in Gaelic as well as English.He also passed on a lot of family history to me. He died on 23rd of June 1986 and is buried in the new cemetery in St.Finan's Bay, The GLEN. He knew 3 of his 4 grandparents.
