Thomas Roche (Roach) is my 4th great grandfather. According to the 1871 and 1861 census, Thomas (labourer) was living with his daughter Bridget (born approx 1811 in Castlebar) whose family married name was Hopkins.
James Hopkins (born approx 1811 in Castlebar, Ireland) married Bridget in Liverpool in 1840. They obviously emmigrated to Liverpool at some point prior to this date from Castlebar, Ireland. James was shown as a wheel wright on his marriage certificate. James father was Bartley (Bartholomew) and he died in Liverpool in 1878.
(Other Hopkins at that address were James (husband) William, Patrick, Michall, Peter and Edward)
Regards Elaine Green
