  • I have Bleary Mills from Alexander as a distant relative. The families used Knocknamuckley's Ch of Ire. I also have a Mills who married a Clare, Co Down Moles.   I can't follow Tullylish folks so I have lots of questions.   Robert James Sinnamon, son of Thomas, is buried with wife Eliza Jane Hamilton in a Mills burial area at Tullylish Ch of Ire.  Where are Nancy/Agnes's Mills from?  If William is Nancy's father, was Catharine his mother, wife or ?.  Are they related to the Bleary Mills?  Did Thomas and Nancy move into a relative's home in Bleary?  Did Robert James Sinnamon move to Clare to be on family property?   Who has a Lockhart connection?  Hugh Lockhart Sinnamon was said to be a son of Thomas and Nancy Sinnamon on one site but he is not in the civil records.  Did he exist?  Dau Elizabeth Jane. had son John Lockhart Cunningham in 1909.  I assume there is a marriage to a Lockhart.  Did Annie Sinnamon, dau of Robert James, marry Samuel Hanna, the one in Amsterdam, NY?

  • Wow! That's a lot of questions! I'll try to answer some of them. Robert James is buried in tullylish church of Ireland with his wife, his daughter Mary also got buried with them. His son, Thomas, (my grandfather) and his wife Agnes (Campbell) are buried in the same grave as Thomas and Nancy Mills just across from Robert James.
Nancy Mills was from the Clare, sometimes on records they say Bleary. Her father was William. I don't know her mothers name but she had grandparents called Sands.
We are not sure how they ended up at the Clare. Thomas was born in Co. Armagh, probably around Portadown area. He lived in a house owned by Susan Lockhart at the Clare.
Robert James lived in a house that belonged to his aunt Susanna (Sinnamon) Warwick. The house is still there but now houses cows!
We think Thomas's mother was called Susanna Lockhart, but we can't find her. Perhaps her father was named Hugh.
There were 2 Hugh Lockhart Sinnamon's. Thomas had a brother born 1840 he went to New Zealand. Then Thomas named a son Hugh Lockhart born 1882 emigrated to Canada. I'm afraid I don't know who Annie married, I would have to ask my dad

  • I have DNA matches between my stepmother who is descended from Singleton Sinnamon and Thomas Sinnamon's descendants. Singleton immigrated to Montreal, Quebec where he married Ann Taylor in 1846. I am trying to figure out the connection between the two families, but I have no documents on Singleton's parents or siblings etc. Any information on a Singleton Sinnamon in Thomas's family? Singleton name also used in a branch of the Sinnamon family who immigrated to Iowa, again connection unknown-Edward Singleton Musselman, son of Nickolas Musselman and Margaret Sinnamon (James Sinnamon & Mariah).

  • Hi, I have not heard of a singleton sinnamon before, but I am very intrigued. Do you know the names of Singleton's and Ann's children? A quick search showed me Rachel and William?

  • Belinda:

The children I have for Singleton & Ann are: Rachel (1846-1924),  William (1847-1910) and Frances (abt 1842- 1925). Frances was born before the marriage of Singleton & Ann, but I am sure she was at least Singleton's daughter as her oldest son is Singleton Sinnamon Drabble (1861-1944). My stepmother is the great-granddaughter of Frances's daughter Elizabeth Drabble (1869-1954).

  • Hi Kimberly, I don't know if this will be any help to you but might be worth looking into.

There was a Singleton Gardner born around 1750 in the Portadown area. Some of his children went to Canada.

In 1771 Henry Sinnamon married Elizabeth Gardner.

This could be the link between the first name Singleton and the last name Sinnamon?

BTW, have you been doing some work on a sinnamon tree on Geni?

  • I don't know if this helps you at all, but I'm related to the Samuel Hanna that is referred to in the first post, and have him as marrying an Annie Sinnamon.  That in itself won't help you, but I am DNA related to their granddaughter (Sarah Jane Hanna Platek) om Ancestry.  so if you have your DNA on Ancestry and match with her, then that will confirm it.  At least I think so.
