From family knowledge we believe Timothy Mulcahy was born in about 1784.  He was my three-times great-grandfather and it is understood that his family and that of his wife, Mary Slattery, moved from Caherconlish to Emly in Co. Tipperary (not that far from Caherconlish) in the early part of the 19th century.  They are both buried in St Ailbe's graveyard in Emly.  A brother of Timothy, who we believe was Thomas, also moved around the same time but to Grange, Knocklong in Co. Limerick, which is likewise in the same vicinity as Emly.  We have always been aware that we have Mulcahy relations around Knocklong and Herbertstown in east County Limerick but it has been difficult to establish the common ancestor.  The common point is likely the parents of Timothy, who should be from somewhere around Caherconlish.  I have some details of Thomas' descendants in East Limerick but I'm lacking confirmation of the connection between Thomas and my ancestor Timothy.  In the graveyard in Emly the main headstone to the Mulcahy family is connected to my family but there is another Mulcahy headstone for a Thomas Mulcahy, his wife Mary Ann (née Coffey) and their son Michael, all from Grange, Knocklong, but again I can't find evidence of a connection and there was no family knowledge of a Michael as a son of the Thomas Mulcahy we believe to be Timothy's brother (although it can't be ruled out either).

If anyone is aware of Mulcahy and Slattery ancestry in the Caherconlish area, I would be interested to find something new.
