According to 1881 census (in Birmingham England) my husband's gt grandfather William Bermegham was born in Ireland & married to Mary born in Scotland. In 1871 census a William Birmingham is living in Birmingham born Galway & next door a Peter Birmingham also born Galway. My husband's DNA mentions Galway!!
In 1861 there is a family living 17 back 15 Charles Henry Street, Birmingham consisting of William BIRMINGHAM age 50 living 17 back 15 Charles Henry Street, B'ham a gardener with wife Bridget 48 & children John 22, Patrick 20, both hair? maker's assistants, Peter 18, a candlestick maker's assistant, Michael 15, a chair/chain maker's assistant, William brass caster 14. All born Ireland. William was an annealer (in iron works) on 1881 census.
