  • I am wondering if William Chapman is a grandchild of George Edward Chapman if Newtown mount Kennedy.

His daughter Elizabeth Chapman came to Western Australia, details unknown. Had my 3 grandmother in York Western Australia in 1840.

  • Hi CorrinnaPB

Given the shared location of newtownmountkennedy, it seems very likely that our William George Chapman and your George Edward Chapman are related but what that relationship is, I don't know.

William's parents are definitely William Chapman and Sarah Edge (From William George Chapman's wedding entries - both marriages -his father is named as William. His death entry names his father as George but the wedding entries are more likely to be correct ... His father could, of course, have been a William George like his son and his son's first child?

William George Chapman's father - William snr - may have been born on 4 Aug 1800 but I am not sure if the record that says this belongs to him or not. I have no idea who his parents are. He married Sarah Edge on 21 October 1826 ( Dublin, Ireland, Probate Record and Marriage License Index, 1270-1858).  I will do a bit more digging.

  • Thanks Jane,

I did also reply to your reply on my separate post.  I have had my DNA done by ancestry, and it would be interesting to see if your husband and I are distantly related.

Although I am not sure how I would find him in all my distant matches.

  • Hi Corinna - I have answered you on the other thread and given you his name (Bruce Chapman) so try searching him by name in the 'match name' box.  Alternatively, try putting 'Chapman' in the '
