Captain Halpin's Bunkhouse is located on Bachelor's Walk in Wicklow Town in the civil parish of Drumkay in County Wicklow.
The house was built 1864 and consists of two storeys with a dormer attic.
Though not remarkable for its appearance, the house was once home to Captain Robert Halpin, a native of Wicklow Town who was captain of the SS Great Eastern. His great accomplishment was laying the transatlantic telegraph cable between Valencia Island and Nova Scotia.
Captain Halpin's Bunkhouse has been maintained to an excellent standard with many original features still in situ, such as the roof slates and railings.
Today the building is in use as a youth hostel.
