This Courthouse is located in the town of Castlebar in County Mayo.
The current building is a reconstruction of a pre-existing courthouse on the same site.
This work began in 1858 and took two years to complete.
The reconstruciton was designed by architect George Wilkinson, who famously designed the Union Workhouses.
Restorations took place in the early 2000's.
The building has managed to retain many of its original features, in spite of the renovations.
The Castlebar Courthouse has been maintained to an excellent standard and is still in regular use today for the courts services.
