The Town Hall was built in 1749 by Charles Tottenham Jnr Esqr Sovregn, as indicated by a plaque

The building consists of a two storey market house built on a rectangular plan.

Reconstruction took place in 1806 under the orders of a Carpenter and Architect named John Robinson.
