This image taken by photographer Robert French for the Lawrence Collection at the National Library of Ireland, shows a beautifully kept thatch cottage. It's thought that the present day cottage stands HERE and that it was owned by a Moriarty, though as is evidenced by the 1901 Census, there were quite a few of that family name in the area.
The cottage itself is extremely well kept with a well maintained thatch roof and whitewashed walls. This lady seem to have her entrepreneurial hat on and is taking advantage of the passing tourist trade. Many travel writers and photographers made a living going around the country writing about what they saw, and it seems that the entrepreneurial spirit continues in Dunloe today!
