Since posting the following message a few hours ago I have found my Great-Great-Grandfather, Thomas Casey in "Ireland, Civil Registration Inexes, 1845-1958. However, the online site only references Registration District: Lismore, Volume 4, Page 469, FHL Film Number: 101591.  I'm really curious to know whether this record gives the site of his burial. Anyone have access to these films/records? Anyone know how I can access them from Minneapolis, USA?  Thanks!

Thomas Casey (1779-1882) and Ellen Phelan Casey (1795-1883) from Ballyduff Upper were my great-great grandparents. They had at least two children, presumably more. William (1835-1883) was my great grandfather and emigrated to America in the early 1850s. Another son, Maurice (1836-1908) remained in Ballyduff Upper. I know from Maurice's great-grandchildren in Ireland, my third cousins, that three generations were buried in the same family plot in the general vicinity of Ballyduff. These would be: Thomas Casey (dec. 20 October 1882) and Ellen Phelan Casey (dec. 7 July 1883); their son Maurice Casey (dec. 1 Dec 1908) and his wife Mary Daly Casey (dec. 5 January 1905); as well as Maurice and Mary's son Michael (7 April 1881 - ? December 1922). Locating this 3-generation Casey plot would help me document, and some day return to pay my respects at, the site of my great-great grandparents' burial. I'm eager to hear any and all suggestions as well as any information may have to share. Thank you.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

See the fifth record on this page https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…; for the death record for Thomas Casey. Burial location is not provided on these death records.

Here is the 1901 census record for Maurice Casey and his family http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Waterford/Castlerichar…; Location was shown as Ballyduff Lower at that time.

You may want to contact the parish office for Ballyduff parish and see if they have any information on the Casey burial site.

  • Richard:

I meant to add that there appears to be gaps in the baptismal records for Lismore RC parish. Here is the link https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0112   to the parish register for Lismore. If you follow the index information, it would appear that there are no baptismal records from February 1831 until July 1840. I did find the record for William in 1835 on the subscription site Roots Ireland but no other children including Maurice. The fact I located William in 1835 means that the gap between 1831 and 1840 was not a continuous gap.
