Was a bachelor

Uncle was William Latten or Latter

Abraham’s uncle  was likely the brother of Abraham’s mother. So her maiden name would have been Latten/Latter.  But it’s always possible William was an uncle-in-law…

The name of Abraham Hopkins uncle is William Salter, I looked for a marriage between a Salter and a Hopkins and unfortunately there are a few so really we need Abraham's birth record which is difficult to find. Options to date

Matthew Hopkins/ Jane Salter  marriage 8/2/1855 Baltinglass  (2)   William Hopkins/ Alicia Salter marriage  20/7/1854   Baltinglass   (3)  Edward Hopkins/  Susan Salter   25/5/1854   Baltinglass  (4) William Hopkins/ Sarah Salter  24/6/1869

William/Sarah  1869 can be omitted as Abraham was 38 when he died. The most likely is Matthew/Jane but it is close and until a birth cert is found then all are contenders. I also found a death cert for a William Salter who may be Abrahams uncle
