I have discovered a marriage record on the IFHF web site of Galway East, for John Brady and Winifred Potter in 1840. The transcript refers to the Parish as Ahascragh/Killosolan. Can I assume that this is the Catholic parish, which covers Killosolan/Castleblakeney? The transcript does not mention the denomination. It gives his address as 'aughart' which I cannot find on any index, including the Index to the Towns and Townlands of Ireland, 1851.
Could you please help me with locating where Aughart is? Could it be a mistranscription of some other location?
The bride, Winifred Potter is listed as of Killosolan. She was, in fact, the daughter of the Church of Ireland Parish Clerk of Castleblakeney. ( I obtained this information from her marriage certificate to her second husband, Patrick Deane, in Kilooney, Ballinasloe, in 1845).
Thank you,
Jean.

Ahascragh RC parish contains the 2 civil parishes of Ahascragh & Killosolan. RC parish map on this link:

The townlands within each parish are listed on the site. I can?t see anywhere that sounds like Aughart on this or any of the other usual townland sites. Perhaps someone with local knowledge will be able to help.

Thank you Elwyn, I hope to view the microfilm of the parish registers in the NLI in the not too distant future. Hopefully that will shed some light on it.
