  • OBS,

The 1900 US Census record on Ancestry showsDaniel McGraw having immigrated and married in 1870 (self reported). The civil records on irishgenealogy.ie do not show a marriage between the two between 1864 & 1870. As you know, there is an 1870 US census record for them, so I believe they were married in the US. Also, the RC parish of Timoleague's baptismal records began in 1842, but I did not find a record for Anna Hurley there around 1845. The only Hurley record was for Mary Hurley, August 1844 in Timoleague with parents James Hurley and Ellen Collins. Possibly she was born prior to 1842. I noticed Daniel's approximate BD is 1830 in the census records.

By Timoleague in your question, I was not sure if you were referring to the entire RC parish or the townland of Timoleague which is in the parish. In any case, I did not find any Griffith's Valuation (1852) records for the surname Hurley in the townland of Timoleague.

    Regards,

  • Thank you for trying. We are just so stuck wth 4 grandparents all listing Ireland in the census but very little about their Irish background.

Daniel McGraw married Anna Hurley. On her tombstone it states born in Timoleague Cork.  Nothing on Daniel.  Both lived in Milwaukee, WI

William O'Brien married Mary Rooney, we believe in 1868 and right away sailed to the States and show up in the Milwaukee census of 1870

I will keep hunting, thank you Carolyn.
