My ancestor is Barnett McMonigle, who we estimate to have been born between 1745 and 1755 in County Donegal, but I do not know exactly where he was from within the county. He first appears in America in Virginia in 1789 as a witness on a land transaction. He went on to live in Estill County, Kentucky, USA. The names of his male children were Amos and Aaron (could be family names passed on to his children). I would appreciate any help in locating precisely where Barnett came from in County Donegal. Thank you! - Steve Jacobs

Hi Steve,
How were you able to establish Barnett came from Donegal ?
Looking at the name Barnett and the names of his children is it possible that Barnett was the first generation born in the USA ?

That Barnett McMonigle came from Donegal came from another researcher and no source is referenced, so it is certainly possible that he was born in the US. I certainly will continue trying to find any earlier records of him here.
