Searching for any info about a John Barrett born about 1807 married to a Catherine White. Their son (my GGF) John Barrett born 1839 emigrated to New York around 1860 and was a cobbler. Married an Annie Hammond, her Dad was Patrick Hammond. Family lore says my ggf lost his family in the Great Famine and came to the U.S. Family lore also is that we are related to the infamous Michael Barrett, hung in England for prison bombing. I am trying to find out if I have any relatives left there. Thank you, Eileen Barrett

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and I was unable to locate a John Barrett/Catherine White marriage. I did find an 1835 baptismal record for a John Barrett with a mother Catherine Whie, however, the father was William Barrett. The church was Charleville in Co. Cork on the border with Co. Limerick. This family also had three other children after John; Margaret 1838 Ned 1844 Patrick 1847. This may be a different family but I thought I would pass on the information.

Hi Roger, sorry so late getting back. My mom passed and it's been a rough time. I think this may be very helpful. Thank you! Best, Eileen
