Looking for the family of Bartholomew Connell born 3 May 1814 in Queenstown.  I don't know who he married but I know he had at least 3 children - Barry bartholomew b 1841, Mary b 1847 and my Great Grandfather Geoffrey b 1849.

He was a Coast guard and served for many years on HMS Racehorse in the Caribean.  In 1842 he was sent to Knockallow in Donegal [ ADM 175/100].

1849 promoted to Commisioned Boatman ADM 175/19

1853 Seconded to the Royal Navy for the Crimean War - served on HMS Prince Regent in the Baltic and HMS Royal Albert in The Black Sea.

1859 sent to Buncranna, Donegal - Chief Boatman in charge ADM 175/19

1869 Discharged - no longer fit for service with 3 good conduct badges.

If anyone can tell me anything more, especially who he married or about his son Geoffrey, who became a wine and spirit merchant in Cork City and marries Mary Cavanagh of the Old Market Place in 1871 - I would love to hear from you.

Many Thanks

BLOC
