Bernard (Barney) McDonough 1804 - 1842

Dear Rob: 

Thank you for your post to the Ireland Reaching Out board.  You mentioned both Counties Fermanagh and Meath?  There doesn't appear to be a parish named Killagally in County Meath.  There is one located in County Monaghan (Killygally) and Killagally located in County Offaly.  Would you clarify this please?  You can reply on this thread and I will do my best to assist you.

Thank you for my reply. As my Great- Great Grandfather Bernard McDonough died while travelling to Australia and was buried at sea we have very little information that has been verified on this arm of our family tree. 

We thought Killagally was the area, Meath was the Parish. Various family members had mentioned County Fermanagh and Sligo but nothing can be confirmed as no real records were kept and I am the first family member to visi5 since Bernard’s family left for Australia in the 1840’s.

If I can uncover any other information when I return to my home at the 3nd of the week I will send it to you.

Home again and have managed to attach the information PDF for Bernard McDonough and his family tree following on from his death on his way to Australia. Unfortunately this is all that we know about this particular link to the McDonoughs in our family tree.

My partner and I (she is from Wexford) arrive in Dublin August 2. We are staying in County Sligo from the 6-9 August.

All I would like to do regarding my ancestor Bernard McDonough is locate the area where they may have lived or a church where thet have have got married and take a photo.
