Hugh's birth was not registered civilly as far as I can tell but below is a transcription of his baptismal record.

I also found the 1894 marriage record for his parents and the grandfather of the 1901 Hugh was Michael.

Wow, thanks so much. That is fantastic news and I really appreciate all your help. I've only been able to get so far with ancestry. If only my Dad was here to tell xx Now I can research a little further. Apparently Hugh had a brother who lived in Bonnyconnolon. The family think his name was John, his wife was Mary Kate and they had one son John or Johnny. My cousin remembers visiting, would probably have been late 50's, early 60's.

Hi, how do I find out where the farm was situated. I know it was Sallymount Graffy Attymass. It would be lovely to find out if anything still exists. The farm was handed down through the generations. My Nan and cousin visited in 1973 but said that gypsies had been in the house at that time. The land continued to be farmed by a possible Mary Ferguson who sent money every Christmas to my Nan.

I went back to the 1855 Griffiths Valuation records for Graffy townland. Unfortunately, there was no Brady family farming in the townland at that time so either Hugh Sr. or another realtive took over a property sometime after 1855. (The Griffiths has records and maps which can help pinpoint the location of a farm).

Graffy had a good number of households in the 1901 census. The house number assigned 19 was not an address. The constable taking the census forms from the families numbered the houses in order as he vitisted to collect the forms. I think your best bet is to visit Graffy and ask a local about a Mary Ferguson farm.
