Here is the civil marriage record  https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;  which lists the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where they were living in 1875.

The only Anthony J. Scanlon I can locate in the 1901 census was a workhouse porter. He was shown as married and born in Co. Sligo.

Do you know what happened to the rest of the family by 1901? Where was Belinda?

You will note that Anthony was listed as a widower but I did not see a good lead on a death record for Margaret from 1911-1916.

Thank you Roger,I found some old newspaper articles from the Sligo Champion with a Anthony J Scanlan in it concerning a court case in 1879,I am confused as I thought he was living in Carrick On Shannon then but the newspaper listed him as being from Springarden County Sligo.Is Sligo close to Leitrim?

Eastern Co. Sligo borders western Co. Leitrim for a number of miles. However, Carrick on Shannon is further south and at that point Co. Roscommon borders Co. Leitrim (Leitrim is a long narrow county). There is only one Spring Garden townland in Co. Sligo. It is located in Dromard civil parish quite a distance from where Slgio borders Leitrim.

I have searched through an old Business directory for Carrick on Shannon and can find no Scanlon/Scanlan in Bridge Street or Main Street.

Dromard is about 35 miles from Carrick on Shannon
