One time burials were side by side as they woudln't open a grave for 7 years. Now it's different.

Hello Margot,

Thank-you for your reply, I greatly appreciate the response. I understand the concept of not opening up a grave for seven years and I know that beside this head stone is two other head stones in this plot. The other two have multiple names listed over the years. I am still curious as to my first question is there anyone else that could be buried there between the 100 year gap. Is there a Church that I could contact that would be able to offer details about any registered burials as I know that my two brothers were buried in that plot.

Your brothers, what years did they pass on?
There are ways of finding out, the years would help. You must know something about their families.
Were they in another country and burried in Ireland?
The families must have records somewhere.
Are you in Ireland?
I am in Wales.
Where my Ancestors are burried in Tipperary, their names are not listed, but they will be soon, going back to 1833.
Sorry about all the questions, I will be searching in the meantime.

Hi Margot,

The brothers that I am searching for, both passed away as infants. So unfortunately I do not have the option to reach out to their families, I am the eldest in the family and both my parents have passed. The first brother is Edward Callanan died August 11, 1954 in Thurles at the age of 11 months. My second brother was a twin that passed away on December 18, 1965 in Thurles at the age of 2 months, his name was Michael Callanan. Yes this info is a help.
From Michael's death (I see your fathers name) I went to familysearch looked for his birth saw the family and your Mothers mainden name.
I have checked on the "Find a Grave" site in Killnane for Callanan and the maiden name and sorry but none listed. I checked years 1954 to present day.
Then to St Mary's in Drom, again none listed.
As you are not in Ireland, I hope a local researcher will pick up your request.
Next .... Tipperary Star, the local newspaper, if you google it will show. 
Big problem that deaths were not listed until the Civil Records in 1864.
I hope you get your information.

My2nd G.Grandmother was Johanna Callanan, I believe born 1844 in Kilnegrana, Baptized in Drangan Tipperary, Parents John Callanan and Mary Darmody.  I have been unable to find any other records in Ireland.  

I found a Johanna Callaghan on a passenger list from Cobh - NYC; age 17 appearing to be traveling alone.  

I found a Johana Callan age 20, a servant in 1865.

In the 1875 NY Census, I found a Brother-In-Law listed as James Callanan born in Ireland. Thi s was the 1st indication of her maiden name.

Later I found a SS Record for a child listing her name as Calahan.  

So many different spellings.  Johanna died in Schenectady, MY,. Most of my direct Ancestors stayed in the Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga Counties of NY.

Does anything sound familiar to you?
