My 2nd great grandparents Jeremiah & Elizabeth (Leo) Carroll emigrated from Limerick City to Chicago in the early 1870s. He was a shoemaker both in Limerick and Chicago. I have birth/baptismal records from St John's for the 5 children that accompanied them: Mary Elizabeth (1856-1910, married James Mott), Jennie Josephine (1858-1932, married Morris Dittenhoefer), my great grandfather James (1861-1933, married KItty Cassin Peck), Anne Mary (1863-?aft 1910, 3 marriages/no surviving descendants), and Helena Mary (1866-1932, married Thomas Norton/no surviving descendants). I believe Jeremiah was born/baptized in Herbertstown & Hospital in Feb 1815, Elizabeth in Fedamore in Mar 1817. They married in Fedamore 18 Jun 1844. There was a son born, Edward, in Mungret in Jun 1845, but I don't know what happened to him or if there were others born between then and 1856. Jeremiah appears in the Griffiths Valuation in Limerick 1853, as the occupier of #8 Benson's Lane--lessor being Martin Carroll. All of this is the cold product of my genealogical research which began in 2007. I would very much like to know if others of the extended Carroll or Leo families are out there. I was born and raised in Chicago, and have lived for the last 40 years in the western suburb Glen Ellyn.
