  • Hi,
It is very unusual that a family would have two living children named Catherine. Are you sure the 1837 and 1848 Catherines are related?
If the 1848 Catherine stayed in Ireland, you could search for her marriage at irishgenealogy.ie; also her death. And you could look for her in the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Hi Patricia, Thank you for your reply and my apology for takig so long to respond.

Like you I have often thought that this was strange but I have the documenetaion for the first Catherine emigrating to Sydney, NSW and to Newvastle area of NSW as well as her Death Cert for 1857.

I have had no success locating the second Catherine in irishgeneology.

I have not looked at the 1901 census when she would be about 51 / 52 as it would be most likely that she had marriedand would be under her marroied name not Doherty / Doorty.

    Thanks Again.
