I am still searching.... Can anyone tell me what happened to this Catherine Regan, daughter of Cornelius and Hanora Regan born in 1844. Did she marry? Any children?

Could she possibly be the Kate Regan who mmarried George Kingston in 1860?  Marriage Certificate Attached.

Looking for some good news:-)  Thanks! Maureen

  • Hi Catherine,

I've checked Griffith's Valuation and have found multiple Cornelius from Schull but no Catherine or Kate, perhaps some are relations -->

I'm not sure are you familiar with the Historic Graves website but it is a great resource. I can see that there are lots of O'Regan families in this Graveyard near Schull (in the 19th century something the O' was dropped depending on who was doing the writing/recording) --> https://historicgraves.com/graveyard/stouke/co-stuk

You might also try contacting Schull Business and Tourism board who could put you in touch with a local historian. The same goes for Skibereen Heritage Centre, which is just a few kilometres down the road -->

I hope you have some luck!

  • It was so nice to see your reply last night, David!

I will definitely contact Skibereen and Schull.  And I will have to look through the historic grave one day when I have some time. Thank you for the Griffith Valuation Link.too. I know I am going to locate my Catherine one day.  I have so many DNA matches with descendants of what appear to be her siblings... it's just a matter of time. After all, even though I am American... with 98% Irish DNA, I know I still have the luck of the Irish in me!  ;-)   Appreciate you taking the time to research and reply, SIncerely, Maureen
