Hello!
My name is Judy Ritt. I am looking for information on my Nooney ancestors. I found that quite a few people with the Nooney surname were buried in Westmeath. There was a Baptism of a baby Nooney ( first name unreadable) on January 31st 1812 in Westmeath. The parents were listed as Thomas Nooney and Eleanor Seery. Their town is listed as Collinstown. This baby could be my 2x great grandfather Thomas Nooney born in 1812 who came to the U.S. in 1846. I was in Ireland last year and I visited Collinstown's St. Feichin's old cemetery hoping to find some of my ancestors. Sadly, the cemetery has many unmarked graves and quite a few of the headstones are damaged or worn and unreadable. No one was around to ask for assistance. There must be some record of the burial locations. Who would I contact to inquire about burial locations? Also, what other cemeteries would have been available in the early to mid 1800's? I would like to locate any nooney's in Ireland and Collinstown seems like a good place to start! I would also like to connect with any living Nooney's in Ireland! My mother, Eileen Nooney Ritt is 92 years old and I would love to be able to answer her question of where in Ireland she hails from. I know another branch of her family is from Donegal. Her DNA came back as 100% Irish! Really unusual for someone in the U.S.! Thank you for any help that you are able to provide!
Sincerely,
Judy Ritt
(daughter of Eileen Nooney)
