Charters/Burns 1858

The Charters were a large family that split between Ireland and Canada in the mid-1850s.  It appears the women remained in Ireland, and the men migrated to Canada, and within ten years, went on to settle in America.  In America, the family grew and split again, with some remaining in Ohio and others moving on to central Colorado's coalfields.  I'm the great-grandson of Joseph W Charters.  Joseph died in a mine cave-in in 1906, leaving an extensive family behind.  At the time, his son Arthur B Charter, my maternal grandfather, was 6 years old.  First-hand knowledge of the family in Ohio, America, and Ireland was lost.  My grandfather Arthur told stories of growing up in Crested Butte, Colorado; USA.https://www.bing.com/travelguide?q=Crested%20Butte&l2sid=44ceb033-4f58-8564-334e-14f2ee6ba679&form=TRGUML&qpvt=Crestabute+colorado  Art told one story that remains with me to this day.  Art and his friends hike up to the top of a hill just outside of town.  They packed an old wagon wheel to the top of this hill and started it rolling down the hill.  They watch with glee as the wheel picked up more and more speed as it headed down the hill.  Naturally, they all figure the wheel would fall over and come to a quick halt near the bottom of the hill.  It didn't work out for them.  That darn wheel went right up the main street where it crashed into a white-picket-fence with an angry neighbor not far behind looking here and there for a switch and some out of control boys.  

This note is like a message in a bottle hoping someone in Ireland connects with the message.
