Hello - Searching for information on the family of Rose Clarke (born ab. 1815).  She lived in County Cavan and departed for the U.S. in 1855 with her children:  Ann (born ab. 1843), Rose (born ab. 1845), Margaret (born ab. 1847) and Baby (born ab. 1851).  Name of spouse, parents, church or town would be most helpful.  I'm curious as to what happened to her spouse.  Thank you!

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and found a family with six children. The parents were Matthew Clarke and Rose Donnellan/Donnelly. The parish was Killaan (Bailieborough). The baptismal records were as follows: Twins Catherine and Ellen baptized December 5 1835, Mary baptized June 21 1838 Anne baptized June 26 1842 Rose September 23 1844 Margret April 30 1847. There was no baptismal record for 1851. The townland was Lisnalea in Bailieborough civil parish. I assume Matthew died and possibly the older three children also passed.

I did not locate a marriage record. Here is a link to the parish register  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0817

Let me know if .you think this may be the correct family

  • This sure sounds like the same family.  Thank you so much as this gives me something to investigate!  Catherine is a name believed to be a sibling as well.  I sincerely appreciate you researching this for me!
