Hello from Missouri, U.S.! My family & I are planning a trip to Ireland, & I started a journey to hopefully find family still living in Ireland. I have a little information on my heritage but have hit a road block. What I do know:

  • My great-great grandfather Thomas Cleary immigrated to the U.S. sometime between 1867-1870
  • His parents were John Cleary & Ellen Fogarty
  • John Cleary’s parents were possibly Cornelius Cleary & Mary Carroll. Ellen’s parents were possibly Patrick Fogarty & Margaret (?) living in Clondoty. The Nenagh genealogy center helped pinned that information down, I’m still working to verify through US Death records.
  • John & Ellen had 11 children baptized in the Loughmore Castleiny parish between 1845 & 1867. The address on the baptism records shows Aughall for the first two children, Killahara Thurles for the others. I have all of their names if that would help.
  • I have linked Thomas Cleary & his siblings to the U.S. except for 3 of his brothers. Two of his brothers, Conor & John, would have been around 20 when their family immigrated. Edit: Conor passed away, most likely around 1852.
  • I believe John was born in 1804, Ellen in 1822
  • My great-great grandfather, Thomas Cleary, was married in the US to Mary Green. His mother in-law was  Elizabeth McGrath from Galway. I will try posting a message on the Galway parish regarding her.

Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated!
