Clintons from Aughrim

My Great-Grandmother, Bridget Clinton, came from Aughrim Parish, Galway in 1854 on "Star of Empire" from Liverpool to Boston.  She was listed as age 14 (1839/40) but the records in the U.S. vary on her age.   I am listing her birth as 1842 because she used that on her marriage record to my Great-Grandfather, John Melville, in Weymouth, Massachusetts.  Later census records confuse that date; however, Bridget was illiterate and possibly did not give the information herself.  I believe her father was John Clinton, born 1815 in Aughrim Parish, Galway.  I have birthdates  for some of John Clinton's children but Bridget has been difficult to pin down.  I hope Ireland Reaching Out will be very successful and I am not certain just where I should post more detailed information.  Thank you for contacting the Clinton boards as the Clintons in the U.S. Boston area are many and it has been a real task to weed out my particular family.  I have a fairly complete history of them after settling in Boston. By the way, my brother and I were in Ireland twice, but we had not progressed very far in our search.  I really appreciate your E-mail and I will eagerly await your reply as to my next step. Barbara
