Hello,
In October 2019 I made a visit with other distant cousins to the graveyard in Clonoulty where we had joint relatives buried. I was advised to visit Clogher cemetary too but can find no reference to it on any other website, nor can I find it on Google maps - though I think I have some confusion there because Clogher and Stuike are posted in a different place to the ancient Parish (is it google or me? )
I am making a return trip in Jan 2020 to meet up with more cousins from the area and would like to find this graveyard. I am hoping someone can help point me in the right direction?
My Crowes originated around the hill / mountain of Glenaneagh so any other information relating to the area would be useful for my history study of the area and my one-name study of Crowe / Crough /Croagh / Croake?
Best wishes to all in the area for 2020!

Hi Seamus, there are two graveyards, Clonoulty which is in the village of Clonoulty, and is now on line at Tipperary studies Digitisation Project, Records are done for the graveyard in Clogher, but are not on line yet.
You will find Crowe,s Crough,s in Glenenagh in the Tithes .
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Christina and a Happy New Year,
Thanks for writing a reply to me, especially on New Years Day, it is much appreciated.
Thanks for the information on the Tithes which I haven't got round to yet but am hoping to concentrate on shortly before my trip 19-26 January 2020.
Also thanks for the info about the Cemetary information but
1 Where are the records online for the Clonoulty cemetary? Are they on the Tipp Studies website or is it a commercial site
2 The Clogher graveyard records may be digitised and coming online but I would still like to visit the graveyard and see if I can find anyone pending the results being made public? I can find no record of there even being a graveyard either on the Tipp County records or other graveyard sites, hence my original request for a location. Perhaps here I am at fault for not searching correctly but I would respond to a light tap on the head and shoving in the right direction? :)
Thanks again for the info and taking the time to write.
Best wishes,
Shay

Hi again Seamus, just google Tipperary Studies Dijitisation Project Graveyard inscriptions. Its a free site.
If you tell me the names you are searching for in Clogher Graveyard I will have a look for them.
The Tithes for the Catholic Parish of Clonoulty/Rossmore are all enumerated, but may not be on line,
but if you come to Ireland you will be able to get them in The National Library Dublin.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Christina,
Thanks again for the information.
Can you tell me if the graveyard has been transcribed, just waiting to be posted or does it still need work? I could volunteer if it needs some work?
As the Clogher cemetary location is obviously a secret :)
Could you look for any Surnames: Crowe, Crough, Croagh and its variations Croke and Croak(e). It would be much appreciated as this is potentially a useful graveyard.
Best wishes,
Shay

Shay, looking through Clonoulty Graveyard yesterday, there were a lot of Crowe,s Crough/Creagh, in it.
The Book with inscriptions for Clogher is available to see in The Local Studies, Co Library Thurles, you may also get the Tithes there.
In The Tipperary Studies Digitisation Project you will also get access to The Rent Books 1840, which have a lot of material.
As you drive from Clonoulty Village towards Holy Cross and Thurles, Clogher Graveyard is on a hill on the right hand side about a mile from Clonoulty.
Let me know how you get on.

Hello, The transcriptions in the Tipperary Studies Centre (over the towns library) are in a book with Clonoulty Parish graveyard inscriptions too. There were no digital transcriptions I was made awre of when I asked for them?
The location of the Clogher graveyard is along a very straight track to a hill with really nice views over the countryside. there is a small parking area at the gateway. For a graveyard it was 'enjoyable' and a nice place to be buried if that is important to you.
52°36'57.8"N 7°56'31.7"W 52.616053, -7.942133
Clonoulty graveyard is to the South - East 52°36'15.6"N 7°57'28.2"W 52.604326 -7.957829 The inscriptions are available online
In general, many of the things offered at the Tipp Studies Centre are not universal for the whole of Tipperary. They may offer rent books and other records but because of history many areas are not covered. You are strongly advised to ask the Centre directly for specific information / documents and the locations they relate to before you travel. For instance you can look at the newspaper records for Ireland free of charge. Only the ones that have been digitised and if it is for another county, as I was able to look at Kerry newspapers in the studies centre, it is impossible to get a copy of the page /article without visiting Kerry. In Tipperary you can only get some papers in digital form the rest are on microfilm without an index. In other words you have to 'turn' the pages one by one of the microfilm like in the old days of searching paper newspapers.
